Batman: Arkham Origins Review

“Bruce Wayne has been running around Gotham dressed as a bat for just two years when we encounter him in Batman: Arkham Origins. He’s young, brash, and a tad stubborn. It’s clear through the course of the story that he has some growing pains coming his way as the Caped Crusader; something that can also be said of developer Warner Bros. Montreal with regard to the game itself. While Arkham Origins is a solid addition to the series, some of the studio’s design choices can be found questionable and awkward, like a young man trying to find his way in the world by beating up criminals in a bat suit.”

On Being a Survivor: Thoughts on The Last of Us

As many of you lovely gamers are aware, there’s this little game by Naughty Dog called The Last of Us that’s been out for a while and causing one heck of a discussion. The title’s being considered by many for Game of the Year, and the ending is something of a shocker to most — if not all — who’ve completed it. The following are my thoughts on the game and the ending specifically, so obviously here is a spoiler warning in case you haven’t witnessed it yourself. I’ll even put it in bold words after this paragraph to show I mean business.

*SPOILER WARNING! The plot of The Last of Us — specifically the ending — is broken down and analyzed here. Don’t read  further if you intend to finish the game and haven’t yet!*

Batman: Arkham Origins E3 2013 Hands-On Preview

“When Warner Bros. Montreal took on the monumental task of continuing the Batman Arkham series, the company stated that it wasn’t planning to radically change anything Rocksteady Games had previously done with their licensed series. The studio claimed it would only add what made sense within the engine and was going to – without a doubt – improve the overall experience. After getting my hands on Batman: Arkam Origins at E3 2013, I can honestly say that Warner Bros. appears to have done just that, making what I felt to be the definitive Batman experience even better.”

Dubstep, Humor, and Absurdity: Saints Row IV E3 2013 Interview with Brandon Bray, Audio Director

“In the waning, final minutes of E3 2013, I got to sit down with Volition’s Brandon Bray, audio director for Saints Row IV. During the interview, Brandon and I discussed the game’s reception at the show, its over-the-top humor, the history of the dubstep gun, and more.”

Disney Infinity E3 2013 Hands-On Preview

Disney Infinity is a bold undertaking. Working off of Activision’s popular Skylanders mold, Disney is integrating figurines of several characters from across the company’s properties into gameplay by allowing players to scan them into the Infinity‘s numerous worlds. While each of these worlds — known in the game as Play Sets — will feature its own setting, story, and play mechanics, it’s the creative Toy Box mode that was the game’s biggest of challenges.”

Sacred Citadel Review

Sacred Citadel reminds me of games that hold a special place in my heart: The old side-scrolling action titles that riddled arcades and took up spots in my NES- and Genesis-era shelves in my younger days. Games like X-Men ArcadeTurtles in Time,Golden AxeStreets of Rage, and more come to mind when I’m playing through Deep Silver and Southend Interactive’s beat-‘em-up endeavor. But as much as the game gets me all nostalgic, it’s ultimately a short trip that doesn’t leave its own endearing mark the way those classics did years go.”
