Madden NFL 25 Review

“It’s incredible to sit back and realize that the Madden NFL franchise has been bringing virtual entertainment to gamers for 25 years. The quintessential football franchise, which began with 1988’s John Madden Football, made that realization an easy one by naming this year’s installment Madden NFL 25. Despite the series’ longevity, one of the constant gripes it garners from fans and detractors is that its annual release schedule has seriously hindered significant development. While that may be the case in the presentation department, this nostalgic version of Madden has provided some game-changing mechanical innovations that make it one of the most strategic editions in its history.”

Games of the Generation: LA Noire

“Toward the end of this seventh console generation, certain games emerged that dared to question just what makes a video game a video game. Though not as extreme a case as Heavy Rain, LA Noire is without a doubt one of the most notorious examples. The game’s insistence on a more story- and character-focused experience provided gameplay that harkened back to classic adventure titles made by LucasArts and Sierra Entertainment in the ’80s and ’90s, yet remained innovative enough to become something all its own.”

VS Node 32: The Most Overrated Games of the Generation

“Eddie Inzauto is joined by Jason Fanelli, Dan Crabtree, Anthony LaBella, and Mike Murphy on Episode 32 of the Versus Node Podcast to verbally abuse — and sometimes defend — the most overrated games released during the seventh generation of gaming history. Anything from November 22, 2005 through today and released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Nintendo Wii was fair game, from big sellers, to critical darlings, to those games everyone just couldn’t shut up about. Listen and find out which games felt like more hype than actual substance to the GamerNode staff as they begin to gear up for the release of the PS4 and Xbox One.”

The Evil Within E3 2013 Preview

“In his final role as a game director, Shinji Mikami is aiming to return to his survival horror roots with The Evil Within. The creator of Resident Evil hasn’t directed a title in the genre since Resident Evil 4, and while parts of his latest title show that series’ influence, there are other components that tap further into the psychological aspects of horror. At least, that’s the impression the game left me with after I got to see it at E3 2013.”

Titanfall E3 2013 Preview

“Respawn Entertainment is looking to change the way gamers perceive multiplayer first-person shooters, moving beyond mindless action and plot neglect and infusing single-player elements into its multiplayer-only title, Titanfall. During E3 2013, I got a look at just how this team made up of Infinity Ward alums aims to use this method to change the way we look at shooting each other in the digital space.”

Batman: Arkham Origins E3 2013 Hands-On Preview

“When Warner Bros. Montreal took on the monumental task of continuing the Batman Arkham series, the company stated that it wasn’t planning to radically change anything Rocksteady Games had previously done with their licensed series. The studio claimed it would only add what made sense within the engine and was going to – without a doubt – improve the overall experience. After getting my hands on Batman: Arkam Origins at E3 2013, I can honestly say that Warner Bros. appears to have done just that, making what I felt to be the definitive Batman experience even better.”
